Majek Fashek chained at his home over deteriorating mental health

Nigerian music legend Majek Fashek is suffering from Schizophrenia according to the doctors taking care of him and his condition is getting really bad. Since he disappeared over the holidays and reappeared in January, he has been uncontrollable. People close to him said he overdid the drugs this time around and his mental illness has deteriorated seriously.

We gathered that people around his neighborhood in Gowon Estate Ipaja now avoid him like a plague. He walks around talking to himself and sometimes sits at a bus stop around his area playing his guitar while little kids make fun of him. To stop him from roaming around, and maybe hurting himself, sometimes people who care for him chain him at his Ipaja home, especially when he gets really out of control. Some people are saying it's a spiritual problem.

Whatever it is, hope he gets serious help before it's too late. Such a sorry situation.

Nigeria/Cote d’Ivoire match: Man (40) slumps, dies

A forty-year-old man, Moshood Ismail, on Sunday collapsed and died at a viewing centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while watching the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants of Cote. Ismail, a father of two and an engineer with the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, caused a commotion inside the viewing centre when he suddenly collapsed in the early minutes of the game. An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that Ismail became agitated and later collapsed when an Ivorien defender deflected a goal-bound shot from Victor Moses. Ismail's neighbor, Taiwo Adebayo, who was also at the viewing centre when the incident occurred, said, "He (Ismail) fell on the ground and immediately started foaming in the mouth before he later died.

" It was learnt that he was immediately rushed to Success Medical Clinic where no doctor was available to attend to him. Adebayo said that Ismail was, however, given some first aid treatment before he was taken to another hospital. He added that Ismail died on the way to the hospital he was referred to. He said, "We were together when the match started. When Moses fired a shot and it was deflected by an opposing player, he (Ismail) fell and started foaming in the mouth. "We immediately rushed him to a clinic. When we got to Success Medical Clinic, the doctor was not available and the nurses gave him first aid treatment. "He was referred to another hospital (First Alpha). But on our way, the vehicle gear got damaged and we took a taxi. "When we got to the hospital, the doctor confirmed him dead. But the Medical Director, Success Medical Clinic, Sulaiman Kolawole, said that Ismail was brought into his clinic dead, adding that efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful. Kolawole said the death was due to excessive intake of carbon dioxide which resulted in "anoxia".

He said, "The man was brought in dead. It is supposed to be a heart attack, because he looked weak, like someone who had been sick for a very long time. "He looked like someone who was managing his life and was now in the midst of a crowd with shortage of oxygen in that area. We call it anoxia, which is excessive intake of carbon dioxide persistently for a long period of time. But it was late before he was brought here." Ismail's widow, Tawakalitu Temilola, told our correspondent at their Abeokuta home that her husband's sudden death was still like a dream. Sobbing profusely, Tawakalitu said that hours before the match started, her husband in company with some of his friends left the house. There was no hint that he would die. She said Ismail, who survived an accident about two months ago, left behind octogenarian parents. She said, "He was involved in an accident about two months ago.

The accident was fatal but he survived. So, this incident is like a dream but we give thanks to Almighty Allah."

It is advised that if you can stand the tension in the Super Eagles game please don’t watch.

May his soul RIP.

Paul Gascoigne Admitted To Treatment Centre

Ex-England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been admitted to a treatment centre in the United States.
The former Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio and Newcastle United star, 45, has "willingly" been admitted to an un-named centre, his management company said tonight.

The move came after fears for the Italia 90 and Euro 96 legend when he appeared unwell and shaking during a charity appearance in Northampton last week, when he broke down sobbing on stage in front of a room full of fans.

In a statement, GamePlan Solutions said Gazza had been touched by the help and support shown by fans and figures within football over the past few days.
"Alcoholic Paul Gascoigne has been experiencing a tough time of late."

"He has been asking for help and has willingly been admitted to a treatment centre in America.
"He has complex issues that are currently being dealt with by professionals.
"Paul has been extremely touched and overwhelmed by the generous offers of help and support over the past few days.

"He is motivated to fully understand and control his addiction problem under guidance."
The world of football has shown its concern at the latest troubled period in the life of Gascoigne, one of England's most naturally gifted players ever.

Gascoigne, who has spoken about alcoholism problems in the past, was sectioned five years ago under the Mental Health Act.

After his latest breakdown, Gascoigne's agent Terry Baker said he had been drinking and needs immediate help, suggesting the wayward star's life is "always in danger" and fearing that "maybe no-one can save him".
Clarke Carlisle, chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, told Radio 4's Today Programme: "We'll continue to give him our full support because that's what we're here for.
"We have put several people to Gazza and, bar manhandling him and dragging him to a facility, which unfortunately we can't do and would do if we could, we have put everyone we possibly can across his path.

"We have been in touch with his friends, his advisers, and agents and we will do again."
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker admits he is struggling to see a positive outcome for his former England and Tottenham team-mate Gascoigne, writing on Twitter: "I can only hope he finds peace somehow, but fear those hopes may be forlorn."

Frank Lampard told today how his "idol" Gascoigne took him under his wing as a young player.
He told ITV News: "I was lucky enough to be involved in Euro '96 with him as a kid and he took me under his wing.

"I was completely in awe of his character, how much he was joking around and more than that the quality of his football. I've got no message for him now, I don't know enough about it. I've just read and I wouldn't want to read too much into that.

"Whatever anyone says about Paul Gascoigne, he was my hero and he'll always be that."

A bit sad,i watched Paul,Garry Lineker,Peter Shilton,Pearce Stuart,Webb Neil  as a boy during Italian 90 world cup and these were legendary people

All i can say is quick recovery.

Mother Slumps, Dies As Daughter Rejects Europe-based Fiance

Tragedy struck in Ogbeawo Quarters, Asaba, Delta State when a mother of a 26-year-old graduate of philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), who was reportedly proposed to by a Europe-based “grave digger” slumped and died a few hours later in the hospital over her daughter’s refusal to marry him. The lady’s photographs were sent to the “lover boy” who hails from Igbanke in Edo State for approval as his wife and upon his endorsement, he sent his photograph to the lady and phone numbers for her confirmation.

We learnt that the ‘lover boy’, a graduate of chemical engineering from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) sought to be a grave digger abroad after his efforts to get a better job failed and had also sought help for a wife in Asaba through his relation who works in one of the state owned ministries. It was gathered that when his photograph was sent to the lady, she cherished it and kept it in her handbag wherever she went, and showed it to her friends, who did not hide their admiration of the overseas-based ‘lover’.

The duo allegedly talked on phone frequently and also planned their wedding, which their communities eagerly waited to witness. The date for the traditional marriage was slated for last month as her parents insisted the wedding must hold in Benin City, the Edo State thereafter. Her parents’ residence at Ogbeawo, was decorated. Last Thursday, family members including friends were assembled while an Asaba-based comedian “Frank De Don” was on hand to add colour to the show and after the bride price paid, both families engaged the floor for a dance. As guests were wining and dancing, the unexpected happened when the bride and the groom to take their turn to dance: they were both nowhere to be found.

Woman pays native doctor N250,000 for love charm, husband becomes impotent

Police detectives in Asaba, Delta State have arrested a housewife, Mrs Ebere and a native doctor following charms administered by the woman to divert the attention of her husband from young ladies whom she believes are making her husband not to satisfy her anymore. Unfortunately, the love charm was too powerful [and probably fake] hence it has left the man, a practicing medical doctor, impotent. Police spokesman in the state, Mr. Famous Ajieh, confirmed that the suspects, who are cooling off their heels at present at the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), were alleged to have connived to render the victim (the woman’s husband) impotent with love charms.

He said that the suspects – Mrs Ebere and the native doctor, identified as Ojokwu – upon interrogation had confessed to their acts, adding that the victim, a well known medical practitioner, had been having problems with his wife. According to him, the woman had sought help from the native doctor around Ugbolu community near Asaba when the bubble burst. She was said to have in a desperate mood consulted a friend who introduced her to the native doctor who charged her N250,000 and she made an advance payment of N150, 000.

What was supposed to be love charms to turn off the husband from other women, eventually backfired when the man’s attempt to make love with the wife failed. He tried severally but to no avail.
